This site is 100 percent reported and written by Nevadans who love the outdoors and want to help others experience all the scenic, low-cost and and rustic outdoor adventure experiences in Nevada, Southern California, Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.

After 10 years as a professional journalist, the last two in Las Vegas, I decided to combine my reporting, writing and photography skills with my love of exploring the Mojave desert.
The goal was to share with other people what I've learned. That is, you don't have to be an expert outdoorsman or woman to experience all the amazing spots within an easy drive of Las Vegas.
Also, and perhaps more importantly, you don't have to spend a lot of time or money finding all the great spots if you can find someone willing to help you get started.

That's what Nevada Outdoor News is for. It's essentially a catalog of my favorite places to hike, bike, rock scramble, golf or just take scenic drives to enjoy a perfect sunset or escape the city.
I'm also going to introduce you to my outdoorsy friends and neighbors and all their favorite places.

And while you're obviously here because you're curious about the Nevada outdoors, I also know not everyone wants to sleep on a bedroll under the stars or dine on handfuls of trail mix or energy gel. That's why the site also includes tons of reports on hotels, restaurants, bars and casinos that are close to all the outdoor places I love to visit. With luck, you'll fall in love with some of these spots too, and find some new ones to share with me.
